Join Foundation House for a comprehensive introduction to working with children and families from a refugee background, including asylum seekers. You will gain knowledge of refugee and asylum seeker experience, and ways of working with this highly vulnerable group. Establishing positive working relationships and maintaining worker resilience in a challenging environment are also covered.

 

You will:

  • Unpack the psychosocial effects of traumatic experiences on children, families and communities
  • Explore the impact of working with trauma, professional boundaries and locating yourself in the work
  • Learn about the Foundation House framework for recovery and how this applies in your service setting
