Description

The Victorian Government is currently consulting on an options paper for changing rental laws by reform of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (RTA). The options paper is the third stage of the review process. The earlier stages involved initial consultation and submissions on various issues papers (VCOSS made several submissions with the input of VCOSS members).

The Options Paper proposes reform in a range of areas, including:

  • terminations and evictions

  • rent amounts, bonds and rental bidding

  • minimum property standards

  • modification rights

  • family violence-related reforms

  • tenant privacy

  • alternative dispute resolution.

VCOSS invites its members to attend a consultation to explore the reform options, and to inform our submission to the options paper.

Please note this consultation is for VCOSS members only.
