Referendum, Reconciliation and Recognition: 1967 and beyond
Date and time
Description
2017 sees the 50th Anniversary of the 1967 National Referendum in which the Australian people voted overwhelmingly to include Aboriginal people in the Federal Census. The act also regularised citizenship and voting rights for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across Australia.
To commemorate this occasion, the TCCS RAP Implementation Group, through Libraries ACT, has invited respected author, academic and social commentator Dr Anita Heiss to deliver a free public talk on Friday 2 June, during National Reconciliation Week.
