PLEASE RSVP DIRECTLY WITH TANGAROA BLUE.
The Tangaroa Blue crew head out to Snapper Island for an island clean-up and data collection day each year. Located just a 45min boat trip from Port Douglas, Snapper Island is an uninhabited island full of sandy cays and rocky shorelines. Sound idyllic, but the windward side of the island is a marine debris hotspot so the data collected is as vital as removal of the debris!
Are there requirements for the event?
Participants ages 8 and older are welcome, those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This clean-up is suitable for volunteers who have a medium level of fitness and are involves climbing in and out of small boats, and walking along some uneven/rocky ground.
What do you need to bring?
Participants need to:
- wear enclosed shoes that can get wet
- bring a lycra/stinger suit (it is stinger season)
- reusable water bottle (there will be water available for refills)
- sun protection
- consider taking sea-sickness tablets if prone to seasickness
All clean-up materials, lunch and extra drinking water will be provided.
