Port Lincoln Reef Ramble - Free Family Event

Join in the fun at this free family event and discover the marine life of Port Lincoln Reef! Safe and supervised reef experiences for the whole family. Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries Inc. & Natural Resources Eyre Peninsulas Marine Parks Program is excited to give the Lower Eyre Peninsula Community a chance to learn about our amazing coastal and marine environment for free.


What to expect?

Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries and Reef Watch SA staff will take you for a guided tour of the reef at low tide. You will explore and take photos of marine life unique to this environment. Be ready to experience some cool marine life and colourful habitat.

Head to the EMS sign in table at Lions Picnic Spot – Lincoln Highway, Township of Boston - across from Boston House.

Where do I meet to take part in tour?

EMS staff and volunteers will have a registration table set up at Lions Picnic Spot – Lincoln Highway, Township of Boston - across from Boston House

Is there an age limit to enter the event?

The event is open to children 5 years and above supervised by parent.

 

What can/can't I bring to the event?

This is an above water walk at low tide. Bring closed in shoes that you dont mind getting wet or dive boots/reef shoes. Pack snacks, water, hat, camera, sunnies and sunscreen.

 

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries Inc.

Safe and supervised 'in water' experiences of our unique marine life and habitat.

Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries (EMS) is an incorporated, not-for-profit community organisation.

EMS snorkel events are Proudly supported by the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges NRM Board and DEWNR Marine Parks.

The program is based on the highly successful New Zealand program ‘Experiencing Marine Reserves’.  

Our EMS snorkel leaders are qualified snorkelling instructors and offer guidance, direction and coordination of our snorkel experiences.

EMS provides mask (goggles), snorkel, fins (flippers) and wetsuits (these are limited so please bring your own if you can). 

The EMS program is designed for adults and children (5 years and above), parents & grandparents that are interested in experiencing and learning about SA’s unique marine life and habitats. Participants 14 and under need to be accompanied in water by a parent.

Snorkel tours typically last for around 30-45 minutes. Registration, gear allocation and snorkel safety briefing can take up to 30 minues before snorkel tour.
