Did you know that one of the single biggest predictors of success is emotional regulation in childhood?

You can help your child develop their emotional intelligence (EQ) by developing your own!

Learn how to improve your EQ with this two-part workshop led by Brain-based Leadership & Emotional Intelligence Coach and mother of three, Amanda Crawford.

Part 1 – Managing the morning madness (Wednesday 17 May @ 6.30pm)

We all know that getting out the door in the morning with kids can end in chaos; with someone (not necessarily always a child!) having some degree of meltdown. How you start your day has a big impact on how successful it will be for you and your child.

Recognising your emotions and those of your child, is the first step to improving your EQ. Next is understanding how to use this emotional information to guide thinking and behaviour.

This interactive session will:

  • help you understand, from a brain-based perspective, why the busy and stressful times of day can derail quickly
  • give you practical strategies based in EQ to manage the morning madness and give everyone the best start for the day, and
  • allow you to connect with other parents and educators to share experiences (and a drink!).

Part 2 – Easier evenings for everyone (Wednesday 19 July @ 6.30pm)

This workshop is designed to explore more of the EQ framework to help you build your emotional intelligence further.

The end of the day can be a testing time for everyone as tummies are rumbling and weariness sets in and you tackle the night-time routine.

This session focuses on how to navigate your emotions, and those of your child’s, and design an easier kind of evening for everyone. It will explore the role of empathy in building healthier relationships and for those who attend part 1, provide an opportunity to reflect on your progress.

Don’t worry if you miss part 1 – you will walk out of this session with an understanding of the importance of EQ and some simple tactics to use straight way to improve your family's evenings.

This workshop series draws on the EQ model of Six Seconds (www.6seconds.org), a global not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to have 1 billion people practicing emotional intelligence competencies!

 After leaving corporate life to start a family, Amanda Crawford re-trained as a Brain-based Leadership and Emotional Intelligence Coach. She now works with individual clients and teams to help unlock potential and improve performance. She believes her most challenging role so far has been as a mum…she also knows that her experience as a coach and emotional intelligence practitioner has made that role much easier (and certainly more pleasant for her whole family)!

Parking available at the community centre (3 hours free).

Cost: $10 per family (2 people) per session, for both sessions $17 per family (2 people). These charges will be made to your childcare fee's onced booked. We are also happy if you invite your friends whose children do not attend the centre, however they will need to purchase a ticket separately. They will be charged at the door so please remind them to bring along cash for the session.
