Council is updating the Recycled Water Strategy and inviting the community to have their say on what is important to them in relation to the use of recycled water.

The Recycled Water Strategy project will be split into three engagement phases over several months. Phase 1 will include the development of a position paper, Phase 2 will be the strategy development and Phase 3 will be the review of the draft strategy.

The Challenge

The Fraser Coast, is one of Australia’s fastest growing regions, with significant future population and tourism growth expected over the next 25 years.

Volumes of effluent will continue to increase with growth (at all locations) which can be recycled and managed in many ways but each way has different opportunities and cost outcomes for the community.

Phase 1 - Position Paper (September - December 2020)

Council is developing a position paper to inform the development of the Fraser Coast Recycled Water Strategy. Council wants to know what is important to the community on this issue, most importantly the community’s values in relation to recycled water for the future of the region. Furthermore, how the community would like to see the water used and identify where the demand is.

Council is inviting the community to provide their feedback through surveys, submissions and at the following three stakeholder sessions.

  1. Tuesday 20/10/20 – 5:15pm-7:30pm
  2. Wednesday 21/10/20 - 5:15pm-7:30pm
  3. Thursday 22/10/20 – 5:15pm-7:30pm

Please note that due to Covid-19 restrictions we have limited space for each session.

We please ask that no more than two people from an organisation/ group/club attend - to allow for multiple groups to be able to have their say.

If you are unable to attend one of these sessions you can also fill out the survey or submission form on the engagement hub project page (closes11:55pm Sunday 11 October):
