Hiring employees can be one of the most difficult challenges for small businesses. Unlike larger businesses or organisations with a dedicated human resources department, smaller businesses usually rely on the business owner or a key administration employee to undertake recruitment of new employees for their business.

Typically, those responsible for recruitment in smaller businesses often have little or no training and whilst endeavouring to do their best will inevitably struggle with challenges such as:

  • Too many or two few applicants
  • No clear way to consistently evaluate applications received
  • Available time and workload pressures to undertake the activity
  • Uncertainty of how to shortlist applicants effectively
  • Inconsistencies with the questions asked of applicants

The Recruitment Intensive workshop delivered by Mary Stevenson, Founder and Director at HR Business Essentials, will provide a framework for recruitment activities as well as the underlying processes necessary to ensure an effective recruitment process and one that is also compliant and minimise the businesses.

This Intensive will equip those with responsibility for employment with the skills and knowledge to effectively co-ordinate and conduct recruitment within their business and to engage their new employee with the business.

The Intensive is hands on and participants are encouraged to bring their laptops or tablets to actively participate.
