Event description
A lecture and tour of the recreated late Victorian gardens at Villa Alba

About this Event

The garden as seen today results from the research and horticultural knowledge of the garden historian, Dr James Broadbent, and his analysis of detailed research by Mrs Jessie Serle; the compilation by Adshead & McQuie of information in surveyor’s field notebooks from 1894 and 1911; archaeology by Maddy Atkinson; and family photographs belonging to Fripp family descendants. The planting of the landscape, used plants identified in 19th century nurserymen’s catalogues and other records. The public also generously helped with sourcing hard-to-find plants.
