ABOUT THE WORKSHOP SPACE

At Mesh, we create an inclusive, fun, supportive and inspiring learning space where you'll expand upon your Pro Tools skills and move towards more polished productions. A focussed learning environment will help you get to the next level with your sounds. The workshop space is disability accessible, has some off street parking and is close to the IGA, shops and cafes. This is an open workshop for all genders, we are LGBTI & Queer friendly.

FACILITATORS

This workshop will be facilitated by Patty Bom (previously SAE lecturer Diploma of Audio Production- Patty was responsible for the fitout of the former 301 commercial premisis at SAE Byron Bay and has an extensive recording history) and Melania Jack. Both are involved in the electronic projects - We play Machines, The Ironing Maidens and Shiny Shiny.

Patty and Melania have 10 years of experience in delivering music and technology workshops in the local area and internationally.

This is an open workshop for all genders. The space is disability accessible, we are LGBTI & Queer friendly and we foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Yes, this workshop is for 15 year olds and over. No ID required.

We do hold workshops for all ages and skill levels regularly throughout the year. Please contact us for more details or like our Facebook page to keep up to date. If you have a particular workshop you would like to attend - get in touch and let us know.

What do I need to bring to the event?

Please BYO laptop and headphones and recording set up - if you have one.

Please BYO lunch, drinks and snacks.

NOTE - the venue is a vegan premises. There is an outdoor covered area for eating non-vegan food, and vegan snacks are provided for morning tea.

Will the workshop content be easy for me to understand?

This is a beginers to intermediate level workshop in recording so we'll be starting from the beginning and taking you through the concepts. If you already have some knowledge there will be more advanced information for you to hook into. Whether you're interested in learning to use Pro tools for your own music or to record others, we'll show you some tips and tricks to take your skills to the next level. We do our best to accommodate everyone's ability and skill level and with this small group workshop (max. 10 participants) you'll get plenty of support, one on one time with the facilitators and time for experimenting. We'll provide instructional notes for you to take home and we welcome your feedback throughout the day.

How do I get to the workshop?

Mesh - Music Electronic Sound House is located at 12b Centennial Drive in the Byron Arts and Industry Estate, just opposite the Circus Arts school. For public transport options, please check the local bus timetable.

What is the price?

We aim to keep our workshops accessible and affordable. $150 is the price for concession/students - you won’t be asked to provide proof - we just ask that you consider that this price is reduced for the purpose of supporting students/concession. If you can afford to pay full price $200 we will love you for supporting accessible education to the community. Scholarships are available for any of our courses upon application. Send us an email if you would like to apply and we will send you an application form.
