Event description

Description

Reconnect Outdoors is excited to announce the return of our Reconnect Riders Term 2 program!

Why should I join the program?
Well honestly, why not?

The Reconnect Riders program is awesome.

The 'Riders' program is not just about going for rides. It is designed to be a fun, challenging and a rewarding experience, that challenges and supports riders of varying fitness levels and abilities .

The program has been designed to develop, not just the kids' riding skills, but them as individuals by improving their confidence, ability to work in teams, and work together to accomplish shared goals.

The goals of the Reconnect Rider program are to:

Reconnect riders with:

  • the fundamental riding skills
  • the natural environment
  • each other
  • physical activity

Restore riders:

  • confidence in their riding abilities
  • ability to connect and work together as a team to achieve shared goals
  • balance, not just on the bikes, but in their life too
  • fitness

Empower riders:

  • leadership skills
  • feelings of accomplishment
  • confidence

Where will we ride?

Each week the program will utilize the schools and local bike tracks on predetermined tracks. On occasion, it will be necessary to cross and ride along local roads to access bike tracks.

There will also be the awesome opportunity to take part in other weekend and school holiday riding adventures around Victoria and interstate.

DATES AND LOCATION:

The Caulfield Grammar Program will commence and conclude each week at the Malvern
Campus oval at 3:45pm and 5:30pm on Wednesdays after school.

FAQs

What can I bring into the event?

  • a signed medical and waver form
  • a suitable helmet that complies with Australian safety standards
  • a fully functioning bike
  • drink bottle

What level of experience do riders need to take part in the program?

The program is aimed at kids in Years 4 to 5 who have experience riding on 2 wheeled bikes without the aid of training wheels and have the ability to ride for extended periods of time (an hour).

If you have a child in Year 3 who is an enthusiastic and capable rider please let us know and we will happily include them in the program.

Please let us know if you have a child in the junior school who is beginning to learn how to ride a bike or wants to learn as we would love to run a junior program if there is enough interest.

I am a confident rider should I join the program?

Absolutely! Our educated and qualified instructors are experts in designing open-ended riding challenges that offer multiple entry points and challenges for riders of different abilities.

We have even had high school students take part in our primary school programs who have loved the opportunity to develop and build their leadership skills while having a great time improving their own riding skills.

What are the group sizes?

The Reconnect Riders programs have limited spaces available. Not just to comply with industry standards and safety, but also to enhance the experience of each individual rider.

Smaller numbers enhance the enjoyment and learning experience of each rider. This is important it will help instructors know each rider and can provide them with one on one advice and challenges during the program.

Safety:

All staff are experienced educators (teachers) and qualified instructors, with first aid training and current working with children checks. First aid kits and communication devices are carried by staff at all times.
