Event description
Reconciliation Week 2021 - Film screening. ‘Living Black: Patrick Dodson – Father of Reconciliation’

About this event

Reconciliation Week is a time for Australians to reflect on our shared history and our shared future. It’s a time for non-Aboriginal people to explore what they can do to help move towards reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The week is framed by the anniversaries of two significant milestones; the successful 1967 Referendum (27 May) and the High Court Mabo decision (3 June).

The 2021 theme is ‘More than a word’, which is how the Transforming Transport program aims to mark the week by hosting a film screening of: ‘Living Black’ featuring prominent indigenous leader Patrick Dodson, as he shares the historical journey towards truth, justice and healing for Aboriginal Victorians.

To introduce the film, we are honoured to have Annette Xiberras. Aunty Annette is a Wurundjeri Elder, a brilliant storyteller and an amazing strong Aboriginal Woman. We are privileged for Aunty Annette to join us on this significant occasion.

We will still deliver this event, but due to the current restrictions it will be online only. So grab your drinks and snacks, dim the lights and tune in from the comfort of your own home.
