Event description
This workshop is for community sector frontline staff & volunteers supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

About this event

Domestic and family violence is an endemic issue across Australia, including the ACT, regardless of race, gender or culture. Financial abuse is a form of domestic and family violence that often goes unrecognised and is not spoken about. It is a pattern of control, exploitation or sabotage of another person’s money, assets, or income – for example when a loved one, a family member, a friend or a carer uses control to influence a person’s finances or decision making.

Care is delivering a workshop which will:

  • highlight financial abuse as a form of domestic and family violence
  • provide staff with an understanding of the impact of financial abuse on clients
  • support staff to identify financial abuse, by increasing awareness of the signs and red flags that it may be occurring; and
  • improve capability in providing culturally appropriate, respectful and accessible support to clients experiencing financial abuse.

Catering will be provided – if you have any dietary or disability access requirements, please email Care’s Community Education team on education@carefcs.org or call us on (02) 6257 1788.
