A presentation on recent economic developments in Greece co-ordinated by the Greek Studies Programme at UNSW Sydney and the Foundation for Hellenic Studies.
Akis Haralabopoulos will discuss: (a) Recent economic conditions in Greece; (b) Austerity or economic reform in response to the Global Financial Crisis, and (c) Was "Plan B" really ever an option?; and (d) Reality and recovery for Greece.
Costas Vertzayias will reflect on aspects of the Greek-German relationship, including: (a) Germans in the War of Independence; (b) Germany’s relationship with the Ottoman Empire and Turkey, and in particular (c) The complicated problem of German reparations for WWII.
The public talks will be followed by Q&A.
