Reasonable and necessary: AFDO/Disability Loop NDIS workshop 2 of 6
Event Information
Description
The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) Disability Loop project is proud to announce that, due to strong demand, our NDIS Train the Trainer workshops are now open to interested people from the disability sector including service providers and government, for a fee of $250+GST per person per session.
NDIS Understanding Train the Trainer Workshops
Over three days from 07 June 2016, people who work in the Victorian disability sector who would like to run workshops about the NDIS are welcome to attend our series of six half-day NDIS Understanding workshops.
The NDIS Understanding series are ‘Train the trainer’ workshops that provide the information and resources organisations need to inform people with disability and families about the NDIS. These are particularly important now that changes to the ‘Participant Pathway’ are being introduced with the ‘transition to full Scheme’ in July 2016.
If you work to directly inform people with disability and families, then this series of NDIS workshops is a must. Why?
- The ‘Participant Pathway’ will change when the ‘transition to full Scheme’ begins
- Train the trainer’ workshops give you the information and resources you need to inform people with disability and families about the NDIS
- An additional 430,000 people will come into the NDIS over the next 3 years
Train the trainer workshop 2 of 6: Reasonable and necessary
It is hard to understand what ‘reasonable and necessary’ supports means in the NDIS. This session helps you explain it clearly.
Be better prepared to explain how the NDIS Act says that reasonable and necessary comes before choice and control. Supports need to be approved before you choose where to get them.
There are six (6) half day NDIS Understanding Train the Trainer workshops:
- How does the NDIS work? Improve understanding on how the NDIS works. This session provides an overview of the NDIS with an emphasis on Access and Planning.
- Reasonable and necessary It is hard to understand what ‘reasonable and necessary’ supports means in the NDIS. This session helps you explain it clearly.
- Planning and standing strong The NDIS Planning process can seem complicated. This session breaks down the steps so you can help Participants get ready.
- I have my Plan, what now? People with disability have choice and control in the NDIS. This session talks about making all the decisions needed to activate a Plan.
- Plan Management explained All Participants need to manage the money part of their NDIS Plan. This session discusses the pros and cons of the options available.
- Is self-management for me? Self-management of an NDIS Plan is not as hard as many people think. This session helps you support a Participant to make this decision.
