Event description

Description

Just for Friends

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon talking about books with guest speaker and group discussion. This month’s works are two of Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories: The Murders in the Rue Morgue (first published in 1841) and The Mystery of Marie Rogêt (first published in 1842), now available in a Penguin Classic: A Modern Detective. Poe is often described as the inventor of the modern crime story and his works continue to influence readers, and writers, of crime fiction and true crime texts today. Our guest convenor is crime fiction aficionado, Dr Rachel Franks.
