An extended weekend of material innovation discovery, speakers, workshops & activations from some of your favourite fashion brands
About this event
Returning to Melbourne for 28-29 May 2022, RawAssembly has joined forces with global media powerhouse New York Times Style; T Magazine Australia and BETA By STH BNK at Hanover House to amplify their impact through a public circular fashion design exhibition, film screenings, activations and workshop sessions.
The exhibition asks: How can we change the fashion industries ingredients and what does the future of fashion look like?
The fashion industry is often cited as the worlds largest polluter, after aviation, creating 92 million tonnes of textile waste a year. Designers and architects are heavily implicated in these problems, but design is also part of the solution and crucial in creating the change we need to reduce the impact we are having on our planet. Join us to discover some of the leading design innovations taking place around the world and how we are rethinking our systems.
By bringing discussion, debate and action centre stage, with renowned industry speakers, Converse, Mills & York, Ethical Clothing Australia, and the Social Studio activations alongside pioneering raw material growers, manufacturers, retailers and textile innovators who are all featured in our Changing the Ingredients, Fashion Future's Recipe exhibition & event, we hope helps share knowledge and inspires change.
Our four day event has been created to show you behind the scenes of the Fashion Industries latest innovations - join us to as we leave the linear economy and move into a circular one and transform the industry as we know it. The exhibition & the featured companies participating aim to raise awareness and help reduce the industry’s impact, addressing the complex question of reducing waste and balancing consumption with sustainability.
It is clear that we have very little time to address the climate crises. There is a sense of urgency and also opportunity for us to create a new future, a new way of working.
