A women's intermediate riders course through RATS Chicks Ride.
About this event
The RATS Chicks Ride from the RATS Cycling Club in partnership with Mountain Bike Coaching Brisbane (MBCB) is pleased to make available this pre-Intermediate course. The course is for women riders whom have basic skill base and wish to progress this to be more confident on intermediate type challenges.
The course comprises 2 x 2-hour sessions full of fun whilst the MBCB guys do what they do best by showing us the "how to" of several important skills that we should now be ready for.
What does the course content cover?
The course will look to build on the base skills that have been either learnt in a previous RATS Chicks introductory coaching sessions, or a MBCB base skills session .
If you don't remember these don't worry, the Marks will be there to remind us and help work back through the skills taught earlier. If you have not yet attended one of these courses we recommend you attend a RATS Chicks introductory skills course first. If you can't see these on the RATS Chicks Ride Facebook page, drop us a message via the detail provided below and we will point you in the right direction.
Where will the sessions be held?
The sessions will be held at Underwood Park Mtb Skills Park and adjacent trails. We will send out an email each week before the session as a reminder and with meeting point locations.
Who are the Coaches?
The Coaches for this course will be Mark Routledge and Mark Watts, whom you should know from the RATS Chicks Introductory Skills session you would have done with us. We invite you to read the reviews on their Facebook page by their previous participants. (The MBCB guys welcome you to leave a review when there both before and after the course).

Session 1. Sunday 17/7/22 3pm - 5pm
Session 2. Sunday 24/7/22 3pm - 5pm
Your registration will be to attend both sessions above for the one total price.
Event participation numbers are limited so we encourage you to register early.
Registration cut off is 11:30pm the Friday before session 1 , unless sold out prior in which case we will open a wait list which is where we go to (in order of registering) should any additional places become available.
FAQs
Is there an age limit to enter the course?
Yes, you must be a minimum of 18 years of age to attend. (or accompanied by your parent or guardian who is also doing the course. In this instance, you must be a minimum of 15 years of age.
Are there any prerequisites?
You need to have a little bit of recent riding under your belt in the lead up. Nothing too serious, we just find it helps to have a bit of fitness and the confidence of having recently used the base skills learnt earlier.
Do I need insurance?
Yes, to take part in any Rats Cycling Club events (including the regular RATS Chicks Ride) you need AusCycling membership that includes personal insurance.
If you need to renew your Auscycling insurance head to:
https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership
A lifestyle membership as a minimum is acceptable.
What do I bring to the event?
You will need a trail-worthy Mountain Bike, an Australian Standard helmet (unless registering for bike hire in which case a helmet will be provided). We would also recommend gloves, sunglasses, comfortable clothing, a full drink bottle preferably mounted on the bike (hire bikes do have a bottle holder so if you have a bike riding sized bottle you can keep it with you on the bike), applying sunscreen before the session and a small snack to top up energy levels if required (like a muesli bar)
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Message Mountain Bike Coaching Brisbane on Email: contact.mbcb@gmail.com
Message Christine McKay of RATS Chicks Ride on Email: christine.mckay@ratscc.com.au
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, we will have a list of all registered participants on the day.
How much is the course?
The fee for the 2 sessions is $80 total.
