Event description

Description

Unleash your creativity to weave a contemporary vessel using the random weaving technique that is as individual as you are!

Award winning weaver Victoria Wilkins, shares her passion for unique basketry using natural fibres. As the Vice-President of Basketry SA, an interior decorator and teacher, Victoria offers her vast creative skills and experience to you in this hands-on 3 hour class.

You will learn how to harvest and prepare plants for Random Weave use. Victoria will guide you through the techniques to create your own small vessel using provided fibres foraged from our local environment.

This style of weaving beckons the creator to 'let go' and be guided by the textures and contours of the natural materials.

* All materials are provided.
* Guests are asked to please bring along a small old towel.
* Kutumba's popular Masala Chiyaa (Nepali Chai) is served & included.
* No weaving experience necessary.
* This workshop is offered only for adults.

If you have young children that would love this workshop, please pop an email to Joh at Kutumba (organiser details below) as we may be able to organise a workshop for young weavers! We understand that high school age children may also be keen and able to participate in this workshop so please pop us an email to register your interest.

IMPORTANT INFO :

Please note we do not offer refunds or transfers for this workshop. If you are unable to attend, we encourage you to offer your ticket to a friend. If you are unable to pass on the ticket we would appreciate you letting us know promptly so that we can offer a space to another guest as this workshop often sells out.

We do not encourage bringing food into our gatherings but takeaway coffee is ok. Check out Casa Dolci Cafe and Sarah's Sisters Cafe which are very close-by our store, so why not check them out for a bite to eat before-hand? Further along Semaphore Road are many other cafes, hotels and eateries.

Due to the unique nature of the venue and workshop we are not able to accomodate children to accompany parents to this workshop.
