Event description
BYO drink and get eco-creative in time for Christmas and turn used fabrics into a chic boho round rug.

About this Event

In this create and sip class, you’ll learn a simple, traditional round rug making technique. You’ll whip up your very own simple rugging tool and create a boho fabric trivet. Or start a gorgeous round rug for your floor–then get crafty at home to complete it.

By then you’ll have the technique down pat and will be crafting like a pro. You’ll have it finished while binge-watching your favourite tv series!

No prior experience necessary, all abilities welcome.

Time

Doors open at 6:30 for a 6:45 start. Sessions run for approximately three hours.

What to Bring

Please bring a bag of unwanted clothing or bed sheets/quilt covers. Cottons work well for this type of rug (e.g. shirts or t-shirts), but most fabrics will work. You’ll re-use these fabrics, turning them into your boho rag rug.

If you don’t have any, you can source them free or at a low cost, from friends, family, a local thrift shop, or put a call out on your local Buy Nothing Facebook group.

If you have plenty to choose from, choose the colours you love or colours that work well together, for example:

  • whites, yellows, greens, blues
  • whites, yellows, oranges, reds
  • whites, pinks, purples
  • mixed pastels
  • mixed brights
  • whites, greys, blacks
  • complimentary colours contrast well–these are opposites on the colour wheel, like orange and blue, or red and green.
