Queer Masculinities: LAUNCH PARTY
Date and time
A launch party for DEiFY's 'Queer Masculinities' Zine, a sharing and celebration of queer BIPOC masculinity!
About this event
Extending beyond the cis- and heteronormative perceptions of masculinity, the afternoon will showcase the flourishing, challenging, and most importantly, lived experiences of masculine identity from our QTIBIPOC** community.
Whether you’re QTIBIPOC or an ally, we’d love to have you join DEiFY at The Front Cáfe (Lyneham) on Saturday 23rd July, 4:30 PM to:
- Pick up a copy of the printed zine and check out the works of nine local and international QTIBIPOC community members!
- Watch a special performance from local drag king legend, Ravi Oli @ravi_oli__ (and maybe a sneaky poetry reading!)
- Share a drink and chat amongst other community members! Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase at the café.
This launch is FREE and NOT autonomous, so anyone and everyone is invited. Don't worry if you can't make the launch - an online copy of the zine will be available too!
Donations will be accepted at the event to help us cover the costs of printing and to help provide more events for the QTIBIPOC community in future.
As always with DEiFY events, if you are coming alone and would like to be linked up with a buddy, let us know in the event form!
**QTIBIPOC = Both Queer, Transgender, Intersex AND Bla(c)k, Indigenous and/or a Person of Colour

Next to the text is an illustration of a person sitting on another's shoulders, both smiling. The person on top is tanned with visible top surgery scars, wearing green shorts, green shoes, and a pink and blue beanie with the masculine scientific gender symbol on it. Their arms are outstretched to their sides joyfully. The person underneath has medium brown skin and curly dark hair, with visible top surgery scars and wearing green shoes. They are sitting cross-legged on the ground. Behind them, green spiky grass pokes up with the masculine and transmasculine gender symbols stuck on the ends. A black bird stands in front of the two figures.
DEiFY is based on unceded Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri country. As we come together with a common goal of building anti-racist queer spaces, settlers must recognise how they benefit from stolen Indigenous land, kinship and culture. We must create space and honour the strength and blueprint laid by queer Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Always was, always will be.
