Description
Danny dreads buying tampons and as consolation grabs a three-pack of Y-fronts. Laura is hoping for a lick and a promise from a girl who sent her a bio of Billy The Kid. Stuart can’t tell the difference between an online dating site and a meat industry ad while the MC at an Orlando Shooting fundraiser loses the plot. There’s a heartbreaking tale from an unsafe schools, teenage lesbian sex and a breast-feeding leather dyke with a PhD.
February 14 is Valentine’s Day – and with Mardi Gras just around the corner, that means it's a great time to delve into the world of queer love in all its many-gendered splendour. And what better way to walk in the desert boot slingbacks of the LGBTQI community than via queer short Australian stories, read on live stage by Sydney actors at Chippendale’s Knox Street Bar.
Hosted by queer-identifying, comic storyteller, Hayley Dinnison, 'I Heart LGBTQI’ is a fundraising event for the Inner City Legal Service with donations going to support the Transgender Law Reform campaign.
The stories, ranging from just two minute microlit to fifteen minute short fiction have all been published by Sydney-based publisher, Spineless Wonders and are penned by authors from across the nation – including Queensland author and founder of Tincture Journal, Stuart Barnes, Sydney YA author, Erin Gough (The Flywheel), Melbourne author Marian Matta, Wollongong author, Hayley Scrivenor and Newcastle authors, Kait Fenwick and Matthew Sefton.
