Queens: Curator Talk

About this event

Queens have shaped our City and led our country through times of change and adversity. Our City is named after Queen Adelaide, at its heart is Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga named after Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning British monarch will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee, the 70th anniversary of accession to the throne in 2022. In addition to their namesakes, their regal forms and faces are immobilised in memorials and memorabilia, as bronze and porcelain statues, in photographs, paintings, prints, on collectable plates, on commemorative coins and stamps. The City of Adelaide Civic Collection contains a myriad of these items on display throughout the Adelaide Town Hall.
