Event description

Description

Quarantine and Pre-Shipment uses of Methyl Bromide 2013-2016

Under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, quarantine and pre-shipment (QPS) uses of methyl bromide have been exempted from phase-out given its importance in fighting pests and diseases related to import and export of products. However, every so often, the Department of the Environment and Energy undertakes a domestic survey of QPS uses of methyl bromide to find out the main sectors of use, trends in its use, and the take-up of alternative technologies by the sectors. The last survey was undertaken in 2017 by David Cox Consulting and a summary will be available at the meeting

The Department of the Environment and Energy is seeking stakeholder feedback on the results of this survey and is providing the opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions about the survey results from David Cox Consulting, and/or seek more information about Montreal Protocol methyl bromide controls from the Department.
