Event description
Anglo American presents the 2020 QRC/WIMARQ International Women's Day Breakfast - Moranbah

About this Event

Presented by Anglo American, the Moranbah QRC/WIMARQ International Women's Day Breakfast and Resources Awards for Women form part of the QRC’s Women in Resources Action Plan to increase the proportion of women in Queensland’s resources sector. The awards provide a platform to develop ambassadors, role models, champions and mentors to aid the attraction, retention and development of women in the resources sector.

Registration opens at 6am and will start with breakfast and a local panel discussion before the streaming of the annual Resources Awards for Women and will formally conclude at 9:30am. It is a remarkable professional development event for people working in Queensland’s resources sector.

The awards recognise and promote company and individual achievements in improving the gender balance in our sector.

Beamed live from the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane, our keynote speaker is Katarina Carroll, the first female Police Commissioner in the service’s 159-year history.

Commissioner Carroll graduated from the police academy in 1983 and served in leadership roles in the drug squad, crime operations and ethical standards before leading the planning and operations of the G20 Summit in Brisbane. She served as Queensland's Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner from December 2014, before being selected for her current role in 2019 after an international recruitment process.

Commissioner Carroll has served not only the people of Queensland, but also played vital roles with national and international groups including the Australia and New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee for Command.

The breakfast and awards form part of the QRC’s Women in Resources Action Plan to increase the proportion of women in Queensland’s resources sector. The awards provide a platform to develop ambassadors, role models, champions and mentors to aid the attraction, retention and development of women in the resources sector.

Join the great debate

After the breakfast, stick around and network, and then join in the popular annual “great debate" featuring a panel of leading men and women in the resources sector. There will be plenty of opportunity for audience questions and interaction and networking both prior to and after the debate.

Again, it'll be streamed live from Brisbane and you'll be able to vote in the debate via the event ap.

The breakfast will commence at 6:30am sharp and conclude at 9:30am.

We look forward to seeing you there.
