Event description

Description

This is one of a series of Daoyin Yang Sheng Gong exercises created by Professor Zhang Guande of Beijing University of Physical Education.

He developed a series of exercises combining physical exercise and mental cultivation and called it Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong. In China, Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong has been officially recognised by the Ministry of Health and is used by hospitals and sanatoria for the treatment of various illnesses.

The Yiqi Yangfei Gong set of 8 exercises is particularly beneficial for the respiratory system, so is a good one to practise during the winter time, when we're prone to coughs and colds. Your day's tuition, with handouts as reminders, should enable you to continue practising at home.

Suitable for beginners and those with some experience. Experience of yoga or other spiritual practices can also be helpful with understanding how the internal energy works. Only one of the moves is physically difficult for those who are less flexible (and we have ways of dealing with that!).

Your instructor for the day will be Suse Coon.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

If under 16 you need to be accompanied by an adult. There's no top age.

Can anyone manage the exercises?
Although the exercises involve being on your feet, anyone can sit and rest at any time.
We all have different body shapes and idiosyncrasies so there are variations for the less strong or flexible.

Can I come for part of the session?

If we are learning a full set of exercises, you obviously won't learn all of it, but, depending on your experience and what you're looking for, you may still benefit from coming along.

What's included in the price?

Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day, with a selection of biscuits.
You will also receive a handout on the topic.
The ticket agency fees are covered by the organiser.

What are my transport/parking options?

There is free parking. The 926 bus between Glasgow and Campbeltown stops almost at the door.

What should I bring?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. The floor is wooden so shoes are optional.
There is a period of meditation, so if you have a mat, seat or blanket you like to use, bring that. There are ordinary chairs.

Feel free to bring a vegetarian lunch to share.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

You can email suse@westcoastwuji.co.uk or phone 07734 699607.

What if I can't make it? What's the refund policy?

Classes are normally 5-10 people so the early bird rate (up to 7 days beforehand) is a guide to whether or not the class will be viable. If you call off before that, you can have a full refund. If after that, I can't guarantee to be able to give you a refund, but you can pass on your place to someone else.
