QATSICPP will host its third Members’ Conference at Rydges Hotel South Bank in South Brisbane.

Day 1: Wednesday 26 June 2019

Advocacy Master Class facilitated by Professor Cindy Blackstock

Executive Director, First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada

Professor Cindy Blackstock is a member of the Gitksan First Nation, and has 25 years of social work experience in child protection and Indigenous children’s rights.

Her promotion of culturally based and evidence informed solutions has been recognised by the Nobel
Women’s Initiative, the Aboriginal Achievement Foundation, Frontline Defenders and many others.

An author of over 50 publications and a widely sought after public speaker, Cindy has collaborated with other
Indigenous leaders to assist the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child in the development and
adoption of a General Comment on the Rights of Indigenous children.

Professor Blackstock will facilitate (in partnership with QATSICPP and PeakCare) a workshop designed to strengthen the voice of the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Child Protection Sector and further encourage representation and strong advocacy under the changing legislative and policy reform.

QATSICPP Members' Conference

The Members’ Conference 2019 will highlight the skill and expertise of the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Child Protection Sector and its workforce.

Important information, knowledge and best practice will be showcased by Member Organisation presentations.

An integral part of the Conference is honouring QATSICPP’s Strategic Priorities:

  • Voice and Representation

  • Cultural Leadership

Registration inclusions:

- Day delegate package, inclusive of morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Please ensure that any special dietary requirements are noted on the registration form.

Friday 28 June 2019 7:00pm: QATSICPP 10 Year Anniversary Dinner

2019 marks 10 years since the establishment of the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak ("QATSICPP").

To celebrate the successes and achievements of QATSICPP and the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Child Protection Sector over the past 10 years, a special dinner will be held on the evening of 28 June 2019 at Rydges Hotel South Bank, South Brisbane.

The celebrations will acknowledge key people who were integral in establishing QATSICPP and building strong foundations for the Sector to where we are today.

Dinner ticket includes:

- A three (3) course plated formal meal - Entree, Main, Dessert

- Entertainment and

- Live DJ

You asked for more entertainment, and this year we aim to please with the inaugural Trivia Night. Time to polish up on that general knowledge.

Daily registration will be at Podium 1 entry on the Podium Level of Rydges Hotel South Bank.

What are my parking options?

Car parking is available at the Brisbane Convention Centre or the South Bank Public car park at a fee. Both are within a short walking distance to the hotel.

What's the refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable after 25 May 2019.

It is strongly recommended that delegates purchase travel insurance.
