“Putting the Heart Back into Business” Presenters: Geoff Manchester, Co-fou...
Wed. 26 April 2017, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm AEST
Meaning is the new money for business. Never before have organisations faced as many competitive threats to sustainability and their reputation through the rise of social media, disruptive technologies and growth in alternative employment models. Customers and employees are demanding better deals from organisations. The time is now for organisations to adopt a more humanistic framework for managing their business that balances profit with purpose and cares about the impact it makes on people and community.
This session will explore the critical need for more heart-centred business models and practices and the role of the OD practitioner in enabling this. Why moving beyond philanthropy and volunteering is so important right now by revealing the meta-trends influencing the human face of business. It explores the evidence supporting growing pressures for business to adopt a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework if they are to remain competitive, sustainable and viable. It also enables meaningful dialogue about how organisations may pursue their ‘good work’ through adopting a more caring and nurturing leadership approach. It will also demonstrate how a leading Australian company; Intrepid Travel is making significant progress in this area.
This session is for those who have a yearning to be part of a force for good in business. For those who wish to challenge and explore the critical role that HR and OD practitioners can play in leading and influencing a more socially conscious agenda for business. It is also for those who wish to reflect on their own career path and understand the valuable contributions they can make towards shaping a positive and inspiring future.
