PUSHY WOMEN SOUTH
Like a cracking yarn, a good cack and a talk-fest?
Then you'll love Pushy Women!
They're smart, sharp, dirty, hot and hilarious and will push the envelope with tales of life, love, lust and everything in between. Town bikes, speed freaks, lycra lasses, pedal pushers, dinkers and BMX bandits – you name it, the Pushy Women have it covered.
Eight of Melbourne's most prominent writers, comedians, thinkers and performers will present their take on being a pushy woman:
Kate Miller Heidke, Chloe Shorten, Tracey Harvey, Monica Dux, Bev Killick, Sally Warhaft, Karla Burt and Nelly Thomas
Hosted by writer, comedian, atheist postergirl and commuter cyclist evangelist Catherine Deveny, the event brings together Melbourne’s most fabulous and fiercely funny women to share their story of life on two wheels.
Will sell out. Be wise to pedal to book.
Sunday 2 March - Gasworks Art Park Theatre, Albert Park, 4pm
Tickets $35/$25. Tickets at door available.
Co-presented by Catherine Deveny, The Squeaky Wheel and The City of Port Phillip.
Pushy Women is the brainchild of comedian Catherine Deveny - writer, comedian, atheist poster girl and bicycle evangelist. Catherine has lead the Pushy Women scene in Melbourne for years and has been a driving force in promoting bike riding amongst women of every age, skills set and bicycle type.

Kate Miller Heidke (musician)
When people discuss Kate Miller-Heidke, the metaphors have to be big, in order to match that monumental voice. Following the big label successes of her gold record Little Eve (2007), platinum record Curiouser (2008) and ARIA/iTunes chart-breaker Nightflight (2012), Kate Miller-Heidke has gone independent with her fourth solo record, O Vertigo, released 14 March.
Tracey Harvey (comedian)
With a rich history in TV, film, radio and theatre that began with the legendary WHITTLE FAMILY, Tracy is best known for her appearances on The COMEDY COMPANY, GILLIES REPORT and MUM'S THE WORD. Tracy is creator and writer of PR!CK the Musical and Call Girl the Musical - nominated for Best Musical Theatre Script, 2010 Australian Writer’s Guild Awards.
Monica Dux (author)
Monica Dux is a columnist with The Age, a social commentator and author of Things I Didn’t Expect (when I was expecting), and co-author of The Great Feminist Denial. You can find her at monicadux.com.au or on twitter @monicadux
Bev Killick (comedian)
Bev Killick is from the bold and brassy school of stand up, delivering a non-stop energetic set every time. For a while Bev’s life became all about boobs after she landed a role in the much-aired Berlei Ad for the Uplifting Tour of Australia as a result of this she was asked to perform as a Bosom Buddy in the hit show “Busting Out!” making audiences across the globe laugh.
Sally Warhaft (774 Melbourne)
Sally Warhaft is a Melbourne broadcaster, anthropologist and former editor of The Monthly magazine. She is the author of Well May We Say: The Speeches that Made Australia and the host of the Wheeler Centre’s Fifth Estate series.
Lally Katz (playwright)
Award winning playright Lally Katz is one of Australia’s most exciting writers. Lally won a British Council Realise Your Dreams grant and was a Churchill fellow in 2010 and was the inaugural recipient of an Australian Writers’ Foundation Playwriting Grant in 2013.
Nelly Thomas (comedian)
Nelly Thomas has been described as one of Australia’s most natural and intelligent comedians. As well as being an award‐winning performer, she was listed as one of Australia’s “most innovative thinkers” in The Age Newspaper’s, The Zone and was featured on the ABC’s Big Ideas: The Smartest Stuff on TV, Radio and Online. You’d be hard pressed to find a more engaging comedy experience. Finally, her crowning glory, Nelly was once an under‐13s girls regional BMX champion. Enough said.
