Description

Global challenges, local solutions – Inclusion in a world of Special Education

Professor Jonathan Rix, The Open University, UK

This talk draws upon an international study, commissioned to look at the “Continuum of Education Provision for Children with Special Educational Needs in 50 countries and systematic reviews of effective pedagogy that support inclusion. Professor Jonathan Rix will outline the challenges which were faced across these 50 countries, and how we can understand these more clearly if we think about them as being within a community of provision. He will consider how these might influence our understanding of inclusion and the solutions which emerged from this study of international provision. This will include a discussion of effective teaching practices which are evident across the literature as well as personal insights from his own professional and personal experiences in the field.
