In our public Lecture “Humboldt Today” – we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of a discoverer and networker, Alexander von Humboldt, including discussion of support for international research and exchanges by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
Presentations will be made by both Professor Gabrielle McMullen AM, and Dr Katrin Amian.
The event will take place in Theatre 2 of the Alan Gilbert Building, 5.00-7.00pm.

Prof Gabrielle McMullen AM, FRACI, is President of the Australian Association of von Humboldt Fellows. She was previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the Australian Catholic University and is currently a member of the Councils of the University of Divinity and Divine Word University, Papua and New Guinea. Professor McMullen’s presentation will be entitled “Alexander von Humboldt – A tribute on the 250th anniversary of his birth”.
Dr Katrin Amian the Head of Division 3.1 at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Bonn, Germany and is responsible for the Foundations involvement in North America, New Zealand, Australia and Oceania. Dr Amian is visiting Australia initially to participate in the Biennial Symposium of the Australian and New Zealand Associations of von Humboldt Fellows, entitled “Sharing Knowledge in the Spirit of Humboldt” at Macquarie University, Sydney from 22 to 24 November. Dr Amian will speak about funding opportunities through the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
