Event Details

The world of human beings is full of biases. Some people are racist, some people are sexist, some have unfavourable attitudes to people with disability or who are elderly.

What causes people to adopt these attitudes? Is it nature or nurture? SACS has undertaken a major study into the psychological markers of these characteristics and we have discovered some fascinating things about the indicators of these negative attitudes and behaviours.

Join us to find the answer to the following intriguing questions:

  • Will a person’s intelligence predict how likely he or she is to be intolerant?
  • Are there personality markers for bigotry?
  • Does a person’s value set indicate greater or lesser likelihood of tolerance to diversity?

Given that intelligence and personality have strong genetic components, they represent “natural” drivers of behaviours. Values are largely learned in the course of life so they represent the “nurture” effect.

In this two-hour Evidence-Based Insight seminar we will show you the results of this study as well as explaining how various forms of bias can be psychologically measured during the recruitment process. This session will help you to maximise your progress towards a highly tolerant workforce.

WEBINAR

If you cannot attend the insight, we also offer a one hour webinar at 11:30am on Thursday 16th November. Please click here to register for the webinar.
