About this Event
Disease today is different than disease in prior times. Stressors today are different than stressors prior and medicine today is still the medicine of yesteryear. Society today is in flux throughout the world as we are coming to the end of the epoch called modernity. The coming change is inevitable albeit painful and upsetting. Especially for those that resist the change. This resistance is often mislabeled as psychological diseases; mood, personality disorder, OCD but are often a misalignment between perceived self and authentic self and that self and society/family.
The coming of a truly integrated medicine is only very successful if we give up the myths of the progress and cure, of finite answers. We must now focus on process, recognising most pathologies are really symptoms. These are symptoms not diseases. Psych diseases are, many times, expressions of the soma. Although we talk of psyche and soma, they are one thing; mind in body, body in mind. The discordance produces symptoms such as fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue, digestive disorders, insomnia, chronic pain, as well as depression, anxiety, OCD and personality disorders. What is expressed somatically or psychologically or not expressed depends much on perception, as both exist in one’s life. Suffering is both physical and mental, but one aspect is pushed forward into consciousness.
This seminar provides both a philosophical modelling as well as unique treatment approaches to heal and to heal beyond the Cartesian separation of body/mind. Holism is a valid and evidence-based way to engage human suffering.
