Event description
Resident at our deepest core, the psoas structure is a remarkable and enigmatic muscular system.

About this Event

The psoas muscle system often contributes prominently to lower back discomfort and restriction as well as groin and hip imbalance. Resident at our deepest core, the psoas structure is a remarkable and enigmatic muscular system.

Due to their location within the sympathetic neuro-core the fibres of the psoas muscles are very susceptible to and strongly influenced by the nerve signals of the fear reflex. When this dimension is ignored during therapeutic intervention for lower back dysfunction, any attempts at directly accessing psoas fibres to release spasm and restriction will not only ‘backfire’ but will potentially exacerbate the contraction in the muscle fibres, thus worsening the condition.

Combining remedial massage techniques for lower back release with specific acupressure sequences as well as non-invasive techniques derived from Positional Release, Myofascial Release and Craniosacral therapy can provide an excellent integrative therapeutic approach to restoring balance within the psoas system and improving lower back functionality.

This seminar will provide a thorough theoretical background grounded in recent scientific studies to explore the relationship between the nervous system and the psoas muscle system. It will focus on a holistic bodywork approach to treat psoas dysfunction and thus support all symptomatic manifestation that can arise from such a dysfunction.

Presenter: Conny Pulvermacher

Conny Pulvermacher has been a clinical practitioner, yoga teacher and holistic health educator for nearly twenty years. She holds qualifications in bodywork, nutrition and yoga, specialising in craniosacral therapy (biodynamic and structural). Conny has developed an integrative approach to therapeutic practice combining the non-invasive approach of craniosacral therapy with myofascial release, positional release, acupressure, kinesiology and remedial massage to facilitate the integration of experience at multiple levels. She structures nutritional advice and movement therapy as additional tools to empower clients with self-help ability within the rhythm of everyday life.

Conny is currently the organiser and a teaching assistant in a three-year diploma training in Craniosacral therapy held in Sydney. She is also a committed meditation practitioner. In her therapeutic practice and her lifestyle she holds a deep core belief: mind and body are inextricably interwoven with each other. When this unity is supported holistically, the inherent health held within every metabolism can express itself much more successfully. The commitment to that belief expresses itself in every level of Conny’s therapeutic practice and teaching work.
