Overview

This webinar will guide volunteer coordinators through effective methods for measuring and communicating volunteer impact.

Each month we will explore volunteer management concepts and issues through the lens of the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement and the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY 2026).

How do you quantify the incredible value of your volunteers? This webinar will guide volunteer coordinators through effective methods for measuring and communicating volunteer impact, a core component of Standard 2: Volunteer participation is championed and modelled.

Learn to identify key performance indicators, collect relevant data and articulate the social, economic, and environmental outcomes of volunteer contributions. We'll explore various tools and techniques for reporting impact to stakeholders, funders, and the wider community.

By clearly demonstrating the profound difference volunteers make, organisations can attract more support, secure funding, and inspire further engagement in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Outcomes

  • Develop an Impact Measurement Strategy: Participants will be able to identify and select a minimum of three relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for their volunteer programs, demonstrating their understanding of how to quantify social, economic, or environmental outcomes aligned with Standard 2 ("Volunteer participant is championed and modelled") and the goal of poverty reduction (Sustainable Development Goal 1).
  • Master Data Collection and Analysis: Participants will be able to apply at least two effective tools or techniques for systematically collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing data on volunteer contributions and their resulting impact, enabling them to move beyond anecdotal evidence to concrete metrics.
  • Enhance Stakeholder Communication: Participants will be able to construct a concise, compelling impact statement suitable for a specific stakeholder (e.g. funder, board, or community member) that articulates the profound value and outcomes of their volunteers' work, thereby securing support and inspiring future engagement.
