Description

PEPA aims to improve health professional's knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care for people with a life-limiting illness.

This interactive day will provide participants with a greater understanding of palliative care and how it can be implemented within the facilities and services they work.

This workshop is targeted at Primary healthcare professionals – GP’s, Nurse Practitioners, Registered and Enrolled Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals (who have not undertaken a PEPA workshop previously)

Learning objectives:

  • To increase knowledge in providing a palliative approach to care
  • To understand the importance of great communication skills
  • To increase knowledge of advance care planning and how it benefits client-centred care
  • To better understand care needs when clients near end-of-life
  • To better understand the complexities of grief and bereavement
  • To care for self
