Description

We invite you to join us for the seminar, followed by drinks and canapes in the McCabes boardroom.

Venue: McCabes – Level 38, MLC Centre, 19 Martin Place
Date: Wednesday, 29 November 2017
Registration: 5:15pm
Seminar: 5:30pm – 6:30pm

The state’s recent strata laws took effect on 30 November 2016. The strata renewal provisions contained in Part 10 of the Strata Schemes Development Act 2015 are complex. Although the legislation sets out the required approval process to be provided by the owners, the legislation gives the Land and Environment Court the ultimate power to approve or reject an order for the collective sale or redevelopment of a strata scheme.

About the presenters:

Marcus Andrews, head of property at McCabes will be presenting a seminar on the recent strata reforms affecting developers, with a particular focus on the collective sale or redevelopment of strata schemes.

From 1 January 2018, developers must lodge a building bond to secure the rectification of building defects. The consequences of failing to pay the bond can be harsh for the developer.

Lynelle Collins, Executive Director at NSW Fair Trading, will discuss the legal framework and practical mechanism of the building bond defects scheme.
