Who can attend?

  • The course is limited to landholders from Macedon Ranges Shire and Mitchell Shire and with properties of four hectares and above.

  • Landholders must be able to attend all three days of the course.

  • Attendees must provide soil test results from their property to be able to attend the course.


Bookings? Places on the course are limited to 15 properties. Bookings will be on a first-come-first-served basis. If there are more than one person who owns or manages a property both people can attend. Bookings are required well before the course to enable laminated aerial maps of attendees’ properties to be produced before the course.


Cost: Free (lunch included)

Property Map: A free laminated aerial map of attendees' properties will be provided

What's the course all about? This three-day course, which will be held over three consecutive Saturdays, will provide landholders with an opportunity to develop a plan for their property based on ecological and economic factors, as well as a property’s assets and features, while addressing natural resource management issues. The course will cover the following topics:

Understanding & assessing your property’s natural features, assets & issues

  • Soil types/characteristics/health, land classes/capability, erosion, & pest plants/animals

Property infrastructure & layout

  • Water supplies/storage, land class fencing, & infrastructure

Pasture & stock management

  • Stock & pasture health, productive/cost effective grazing systems

Creating an attractive, environmentally sustainable property

  • Improving your property’s landscape & biodiversity values, managing waterways, & revegetation
