Guest Speaker- Peter Raptis
Peter has been a valuer for over 30 years and conducted all forms of valuation, including Residential, Office, Retail, Industrial, Development Feasibilities and Specialised properties.
Peter has also been lecturing part time in various property courses for 29 years. He currently teaches at the University of NSW and UTS (Ultimo) in both undergraduate and post graduate studies.
Peter was a founder of MVS Valuers in 1996, which after 21 years, with about 150 staff, was sold to Land Mark White (LMW) in 2017.
Peter holds a master’s degree in Real Estate and a second Masters in Property Development. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute. Peter is currently a Director at LMW.
Guest Speaker- Paul Denny
Paul has had a wealth of experience in the conveyancing world, starting his career in Adelaide in 1978. He established himself as one of the most trusted conveyancers in South Australia, quickly building up a high reputation with real estate agents and clients alike. It wasn’t until 1993 that conveyancing was recognised as a profession in NSW – until then, only solicitors were permitted to engage in property transactions.
Seeing the opportunity, Paul decided to relocate his business to Sydney and became the very first licensed conveyancer in NSW. Paul opened his first office in Lane Cove, and over the last 20 years he has continued to build Paul Denny Conveyancing.
These days, Paul is best known for his slogan “When all you do is conveyancing, you get very good at it”. Whether you love or hate his radio ads, the name Paul Denny has become synonymous with conveyancing. Paul is one of the most respected professionals in the conveyancing and property arena, with a depth of knowledge and level of experience that is second to none. He is frequently invited as a guest on 2UE to discuss the various issues that can come up when buying and selling property.
Guest Speaker- Scott Costain
Scott Costain is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years of experience. He has been a partner of Thomas Hopper and Partners now for over 10 years. His experience lies in advising the firms differing clientele with regards to their taxation, accounting and superannuation needs. Scott has been involved in assisting many of his clients in ensuring that they have the right structure to house their particular investment choices, so as to achieve asset protection, while ensuring the tax effectiveness of such investments is maximised.
Scott also heads up the firm’s advice arm with respect to advising its clients on particular superannuation strategies, many times involving the use of Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangements.
Guest Speaker- Tim Wilson
Tim is Principal and business owner of ANZ Mortgage Solutions St Ives /Lane Cove a proprietary mortgage origination channel for ANZ. He has managed this business for over 13 years and specialises in delivering optimal property financing solutions to clients.
Prior to his current role, Tim held senior finance /corporate roles in Australia and internationally including CFO Baycorp Advantage (now Equifax Australia) CFO Corporate & Institutional Banking, Westpac, CFO American Express TRS Establishment Services, Europe, CFO & VP American Express TRS UK & Ireland & VP & Treasurer American Express Europe, Middle East, Africa.
He holds degrees in Economics & Accounting and an MBA from London Business School.
Guest Speaker-Blake Russell
Since joining the BMT team, Blake has played a key role in educating investors and property related organisations about the importance of property tax deprecation. Blake has become actively involved in new business development and is well versed in explaining the difference depreciation makes to the post tax cost of owning an investment property.
Blake has over 10 years experience working as a Property Manager in the property industry. This provides him with a unique ability to understand the needs of both real estate professionals and investors. Blake has conducted training sessions at local, state and national level and is regularly invited back to speak at various events.
Blake’s presentation will demonstrate the benefits of having a tax depreciation schedule completed on an investment property and how an investor can potentially save thousands of dollars at tax time.
