Overview

Quality research requires careful design - how to supervise for project viability

Critical aspects of research supervision include project inception and design. The extent to which a research project is viable and feasible is largely dependent upon the early phases of supervision. Research supervisors therefore have a significant responsibility to guide candidates because, as a team, research aims, objectives, questions and research design have considerable impact upon the research to be conducted. Candidates look to supervisors as a guide, and supervisors are required to help candidates appreciate the fundamentals of a research degree and the features of quality research in their respective field.

This part of the Deakin Research Supervision Program will critically explore these features of supervision and provide supervisors with tools to create a supervisory pedagogy predicated upon project viability and quality.
