PROJECT IMPACT:
Project ImPACT is recognised as one of the most effective coaching programs for parents of young children (up to age 6) with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other social communication challenges. Research on parent mediated intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder and related social communication challenges shows that it is an effective treatment approach that leads to improvements for the child and family. Project ImPACT targets core skills in four areas of social communication: Social engagement, communication and language, imitation, and play. It is a naturalistic developmental behavioural intervention, or NDBI, that uses evidence-based intervention strategies to promote the child’s social communication. NDBI is a newer class of interventions that has been informed by the fields of developmental and communication sciences and applied behaviour analysis, or ABA.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
This webinar is open to providers who would like to use the Project ImPACT intervention with children with ASD and related disorders. Project ImPACT is recognised as one of the most effective coaching programs for parents of young children (up to age 6) with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related social communication delays. Attendees will learn how to use the Project ImPACT (Second Edition) curriculum to teach parents of children with autism to promote social communication during daily routines and activities. Additional information regarding Project ImPACT via telehealth and research on use of Project ImPACT via telehealth has been added this workshop. Attendees will be able to share video of their direct in-person or telehealth sessions for feedback during the role play sessions if they choose.
