Progressive Laneway Dinner
Event Information
Description
Come attend a unique gathering around the dinner table in different laneways of Melbourne to celebrate Good Neighbour Month!
Dinner will be served by teams from STREAT, KINFOLK and CREDO. Each course will be held in one of three laneways around Melbourne, starting at STREAT (5 McKillop Street, Melbourne), and concluding in Credo (End of Baptist Pl. Melbourne).
Four seatings will be held with each seating taking up to 30 guests each. Each group will be hosted by team members from the Urban Seed crew, ensuring a night with not just great food and conversations, but one accompanied with experiential walks. Hear stories that arise out of Good Neighbour Month, and share your experience of it around the dinner table.
What is Good Neighbour Month?
I'm glad you asked!
Good Neighbour Month is a call to our cities and neighbourhoods to take seriously the need to be good neighbours, with a special emphasis on marginalized people.
July is the coldest month in Melbourne and the hardest month to be homeless, making it a good month to be reminded how important neighbourliness is.
Within our neighbourhoods we have a special responsibility to those amongst us who feel they don’t belong, who feel excluded, such as people experiencing:
- Homelessness (including asylum seekers)
- Mental health issues
- Addiction problems
- Disability
- Post prison rejection
- Unemployment
Urban Seed and Life Expedition are in partnership, calling our neighbourhoods to good neighbourliness over the month of July, with the hope of it catching on and becoming fixed in people’s minds, thus transforming our neighbourhoods. That’s the grand vision and it’s enough to get us up in the morning!
