This session for middle to Upper primary teachers (years 3 - 6), will focus on developing a whole school approach to mental computation and specifically basic number facts.
While outlining a whole school approach, Paul will highlight links to the four proficiency strands of the WA Mathematics Curriculum and make links to students working memory, the language of mathematics, disposition and other elements of a balanced whole school approach to mental computation.
Participants will walk away with a general whole school plan for mental computation and a specific whole school plan for basic number facts. This two hours will help you get your whole school on track to develop basic number facts across the school.
Note: Participants might like to bring a camera (phone) or tablet to record some of the ideas.
