What prehistoric stories lie beneath the streets of Adelaide? What extraordinary creatures once roamed the mountains and valleys of South Australia at a time those mountains were taller than the Himalayas? Join acclaimed palaeontologist Professor Flint on an interactive tour of the South Australian Museum’s unique collection of fossils… A collection that tells the story of our place.

Along the way, learn about Spriggina, the state fossil emblem, and possibly the first animal in the world with a head and brain. Come face to face with a giant, scissor-tooted, flesh, eating possum. Learn about Anomalorcaris, the terror of the Cambrian Sea. Travel to the place where plesiosaurs and ichthyosaurs once swam, while dinosaurs stomped across the Earth.

South Australian fossils don’t have much to say about dinosaurs. They do, though, have a great deal to say about life before, during and after the Age of Dinosaurs, and the incredible life-forms that once dwelt where we now dwell! In “Footsteps from the past: A South Australian story”, Professor Flint takes you on family-friendly tour of our own, incredible, prehistoric story.
