Event description

Description

Please join the Murdoch School of Education for a free professional learning event for Early Childhood teachers, facilitated by Dr Sandra Hesterman, Director of Early Childhood Education at Murdoch University.

Western Australia is experiencing a demise of play-based learning in the early years of schooling. In response, some schools are designing their own play policy to ensure play-based learning is delivered. This three-hour seminar and discussion forum will provide teacher participants with an opportunity to learn about the processes involved in developing a school play policy in accordance to the National Quality Standard.

Topics of discussion will include how a school play policy can safeguard the child’s right to:

  • access quality time, space and resources to inspire creativity
  • develop self-regulation and resilience
  • support the achievement of educational outcomes
  • nurture self-identity and well-being.

Guest presenters include:

  • Jacqui Macliver (SSTUWA Case Manager ECE)
  • Jane Merewether (Lecturer, Curtin University)
  • ECE teachers Fiona Scidone (Clifton Hills PS) and Natalie Warnock (Hillman PS)

NOTE: Tickets are linited to 2 per school
