About this event

Until 2020, the Obligations Group at Melbourne Law School held an end of year conference, which sought to bring together private law scholars across Australasia to meet, exchange ideas and hear exciting work in progress. Past themes have included the law of remedies, property, contracts, torts, unjust enrichment, equity, trusts and civil wrongs.

In 2021, the Conference moved to the University of Western Australia, on the banks of the beautiful Swan River, and was hosted by the Private and Commercial Law Research Cluster of the UWA Law School (UWA PCL Research Cluster). This year, the UWA PCL Research Cluster will again host the conference, convened by Felicity Maher and Nicholas Tiverios. The conference will be held at the UWA Law School on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 December 2022. It will have a ‘blended’ format, to allow for in-person and remote presentations and attendance.

The theme of the conference will be Civil Remedies, capturing a broad range of potential topics across common law, equity and statute. Accordingly, the UWA PCL Research Cluster is pleased to invite all academics who teach or research in fields relating to Civil Remedies to the conference.

The aims of the conference remain to provide academics with an informal and supportive environment in which to present work in progress, and to facilitate a collegial discussion of issues related to teaching and publishing in the field. We encourage early and mid-career academics and research higher degree students to consider presenting on aspects of their work relating to the Conference theme. Expressions of interest in presenting, along with draft titles and abstracts should be submitted to the UWA PCL Research Cluster at by Friday 29 July 2022.
