Event description

Description

Preserving Roadkill

Students for this class are encouraged to keep an eye out of for naturally occurring roadkill, for use in this class. All native specimens need to be individually approved by Department of Parks and Wildlife.
Domestic bird specimens, such as pigeons and roosters, will be also supplied.

In this 8 hour workshop you will learn the importance of viability when using "roadkill" specimens for taxidermy. Learn the correct process of skinning and defleshing, washing, creating forms from hemp, and arranging feathers.

You'll get to take your pieces home with you.

This workshop would be a great precursor to the Victorian Headpieces class, where you can use your specimen to create art pieces.

Please note: All native fauna needs individual approval from DPAW (department of parks and wildlife) https://www.dpaw.wa.gov.au/plants-and-animals/licences-and-permits
