Presenting Research beautifully - Infographics, manuscript design and more with Anitra Nottingham

Some simple design principles can help your thesis document communicate beautifully, and more importantly, clearly. Information design can make your data visual and impactful, and basic typographic principles can be applied to structure your thesis in a way that makes it clearer and therefore more authoritative. This presentation will help you analyse your data for potential visuals, define the best from for presenting that visual data, and construct your thesis text for maximum clarity and readability.


By the end of this workshop you will:

• Basic type and visual strategies for presenting visual and written information clearly

• Identify where your data may be made visual

• Use the right information graphic form for presenting your information



This workshop will be presented by Anitra Nottingham, Online Director of the School of Graphic Design and Digital Media at the Academy of Art University (AAU) San Francisco. She is a graduate of the MADA (Monash University’s Design School) and theUniversity of Melbourne’s Graduate School of Education.


She has been a Senior Book Designer for Oxford University Press, and Penguin Books Australia, as well as Creative Director for a small design studio, and the large software company Intuit (makers of Quickenand Turbo Tax) and has taught graphic design for 13 years.
