Event description

Description

The Un-lecture is about breaking the traditional Australian style lecture—and remaking it. Creating a lecture where performance, song and word intersect.

Featuring prolific local spoken word artists from the African-Australian diaspora, Un-lecture speakers explore identity through lyrical and performative storytelling. Abe Nouk is the author of HUMBLE and Dear Child and the founder and director of Creative Rebellion Youth. Soreti B Kadir is the author of Siyaanne, a collection of poetry exploring nuances of the afro black, diasporic world view. Khalid Warsame is a writer, whose work has appeared in several journals such as written for Overland and The Suburban Review. He and is the fiction editor of The Lifted Brow Journal and arts producer at Footscray Arts. Piriye Altraide has featured in the Melbourne spoken word scene, is a 2014 Perth Poetry Slam finalist and her work has been published in Mirrors of Africa.
