About the Pre-Learner course - This is a 2 day course - each day being half a day

It is held over 2 consecutive days, for 3.5 hours each day. Motorcycles, helmets and gloves are all provided at the training centre.

During Covid 19 we are recommending that students bring their own helmet, gloves and wet weather gear, but this is not compulsory. Your helmet must be an approved helmet and in good condition. Your gloves must be in good condition.

This is an Afternoon Course

Day 1 – 12:00pm – 3:30pm

Day 2 - 12:00pm – 3:30pm

The pre-learner course is a competency based course, with pass/fail criteria. You’ll only be permitted to continue riding if you’ve passed all of the competencies, in order.

When you pass, you’ll be issued with a Certificate of Competency, which you’ll need to take with you when you attend a Service NSW centre to do your rider knowledge test on the computer.

The Pre-Learner Course is held in all weather conditions – rain, hail or shine.

You’ll need to pay the course fee at the time of this booking, so you'll need a credit card to book.

Important: If you wish to learn to ride a motor scooter, please choose this option when you make the booking and it will be reserved for you. If this option is not available, it means that the scooter has already been hired out. You will need to choose a different course date.

Changing your booking

You can only change your booking by contacting our office on 55046910 or emailing us at flrt@dodo.com.au - This can be done up to 7 days prior to the commencement of your course. No changes or cancellations or refunds can be made within 7 days of the commencement of your course.

Requirements

You need to be at least 16 years and 6 months old to attend a pre-learner course.

Note though that you can’t apply for your learner rider licence at Service NSW until you are 16 years and 9 months old.

The Certificate of Competence you receive when you successfully complete the course is valid for 3 months.

Course fee refunds

There are no refunds in the following situations:

• Lateness in attending the course

• Proof of identity issues

• Delays caused by traffic or motor vehicle incidents

• Bad weather conditions

• If you cancel within 7 days of the commencement of your course

• Non attendance for any reason

On the day

Riding a motorcycle requires a high level of balance, coordination and concentration, and not everyone has these skills. The Pre-Learner Course is designed with specific learning exercises that must be completed to a scheduled time table. If you have any doubts about your ability to meet the learning criteria in a pre-learner course, we can provide one on one private tuition before your Learner Course. This can be arranged with Fine Line Rider Training. See Private Tuition details below.

For your own safety and the safety of others, the instructor may stop you from riding during the course. If you’re stopped from riding, the instructor will advise you of the best way to proceed with your training. Private tuition may be an option for you.

Plan to arrive at the course location at least 20 minutes before the scheduled start time. If you arrive after the course has started, you will not be allowed to join the course. Course fees are not refundable in this situation.

You need to wear:

• Jeans, leather or other sturdy pants

• Long sleeved shirt as well as a long sleeved leather, denim or other sturdy long sleeved jacket

• Boots or sturdy shoes that preferably provide ankle protection

• A hat and sunglasses

Motorcycles, helmets and gloves will all be provided by the training center, however, you may feel more comfortable using your own helmet and gloves. Feel free to bring them along.

Private Tuition

Private one on one tuition is available with a qualified instructor. This can be arranged prior to you even taking part in the Pre-Learner course if you feel that you could benefit from it before doing the course. If you are not feeling confident enough to carry out the Pre-Learner Course without some prior training, then Private Tuition could be good for you.

Private Tuition is also available for those people who fail their Pre-Learner Course and feel they could benefit from some one on one instruction.

Go to Private Tuition on our booking site to book a session.

Private Tuition Fees

On Your Bike - $90 per hour

On Our Bike - $120 per hour
